First built back in 1974 the Volkswagen Golf is the third best selling car as at February 2012 with an impressive twenty seven and a half units of the small family car sold. The front wheel drive successor to the Beetle has also adopted the name Rabbit for use in North American markets. Having achieved iconic status the Volkswagen Golf is popular among tuners and enthusiasts alike.

Released across Europe in 2003 and North America in 2006, the fifth generation Volkswagen Golf again featured a 1.4 litre naturally aspirated base model. Other models featured fuel stratified injection for improved fuel efficiency with versions including a 1.4, 1.6 and 2 litre editions. Again the exterior styling differences from its predecessor were subtle, with smoother lines accommodating a more modern look. Soon after its debut saw the GTi heritage continue with a 2.0 litre turbocharged TFSI engine producing 197 bhp.
